Our history and achievements

From its beginnings in Santiago over 130 years ago, Concha y Toro has grown to become one of the world's leading wine companies. Here are a few milestones along that road, to where we are now in the UK, with a business of over 6 million cases a year in this market alone.

Don Melchor de Concha y Toro founds the wine company at his estate at Pirque, just outside Santiago, Chile.

The main ownership is between two families with a long-term vision and passion for wine.

Bodega Trivento is founded

Our Argentinean winery is founded in Lujan de Cuyo, Mendoza.  It is now the number 1 Argentinean wine brand in the UK.

Concha y Toro UK sets up business in Oxford, UK

Concha y Toro UK was established to work more closely with Concha y Toro’s most important market. From an initial team of two, the office has grown to over 60 strong in 2015.

Cono Sur joins the Concha y Toro UK portfolio

A pioneer of the Chilean wine industry, Cono Sur’s new wave wines and green credentials complement Concha y Toro UK's portfolio and philosophy.

Don Melchor celebrates 21 vintages in London

CyT UK hosts a rare visit by head winemaker Enrique Tirado to open a range of vintages from Don Melchor’s historic back catalogue.

Acquisition of Fetzer and Bonterra from California

Concha y Toro acquires the major US Fetzer & Bonterra winery operations, based in Mendocino County, California.

Casillero del Diablo sells over 1 million cases in the UK

Our leading brand Casillero del Diablo breaks through the 1 million case barrier in UK sales for the first time.

Cono Sur announces a major partnership with the Tour de France bicycle race

To coincide with the Tour's 'Grand Depart' launching in Yorkshire, Cambridge and London in 2014, Cono Sur team up with the event, the most watched annual sporting event in the world.
